stitching techniques, fashion design,

memoir and story telling.

Workshops

Decorative Stitching and Mending (Ages 16+)

Saturday, October 11 | 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. | Cranston Central Library

Led by Wells Goetzmann

Participants will learn embroidery techniques and practice four different stitches. Following a short break, attendees will begin repairing garments with instructor support. Please bring one item of clothing to mend; additional fabric and supplies will be provided.

Fashion Design Workshop (Ages 8 - 12)

Saturday, October 25 | 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | Cranston Central Library

Led by Blue Door Art Studio

Students will explore 2025 fashion trends, create a collaborative fashion theme board, and learn about design processes and influential designers. Each participant will sketch ideas for their own clothing line, create fashion illustrations, and build a three-dimensional mixed-media fashion figure.

Fashion as Expression Youth Workshop (Ages 8–12)

Saturday, October 25 | 12:30–2:00 p.m. | Cranston Central Library

Led by Cranston Arts Educator Mary Greim-Gallo

Young designers will explore how clothing reflects personality and creativity. Participants will create bold outfits for paper mannequins, expand into a full fashion line, and write short artist statements about their inspirations.

Fabric / Memoir Workshop (Adult workshop)

Thursday, October 16 | 5:30–6:15 p.m. | William Hall Library, Event Room

Led by Emily Hipchin

This workshop invites participants to write (or draw) short scenes inspired by a memory connected to fabric or clothing. Please bring a garment, fabric swatch, or image with personal significance. Participants will have the option to share their work with the group.
